Adam Pickles and the impact you had on me

Created by Andrea 3 years ago

Adam taught just around the corridor from me at Cathedral School, in Wakefield. He has had a life long impact on me. He made me feel at ease as a new teacher. He quickly made me feel special. Not least when he would sneek around the corner when I didn’t have a class... only to find out, he did! Those students loved him so much.

He took me to places I’d never been. I felt they were special. They were just places. Adam made it special. He embraced my friends. He made me laugh... a lot. And he talked seriously with me. He made me feel very excited whenever my mobile phone, that resembled a small washing machine at the time, went off.

He left a card under my computer keyboard on Valentine’s Day, once.

We drank guinness on his doorstep in the morning, listening to the guy across the street in Armley, playing piano amazingly well. He loved music. As do I.

He inspired me. He made me laugh. I gave Adam a note when he was leaving, to let him know, I hope, that he had made such an impression on me... I’ll never forget. He clearly has had this impact on many  people. I am very thankful I met Adam. I feel privileged that he made me feel that I meant something to him. I even told my Mum how much he meant to me. Wow. She got it.

I will never forget Adam. Sending you so much love, Andrew and Adele. He spoke about you both with the upmost admiration.

Thinking of Adam, always. Andrea xx
